Reconfiguring Trauma Centers in Ballad Health System
B+A worked with the Ballad Health system to assess productivity, finances, medical staff, and other resources of its existing Level I and Level II trauma centers. Transport times in the geographic area were also assessed. B+A helped Ballad Health consolidate the existing trauma centers to form one Level I and two Level III trauma centers, which enhanced health system integration and collaboration, allowed more prudent use of hospital resources, recalibrated work loads for trauma surgeons and trauma subspecialists, and improved financial viability of the hospitals and the health system.
