| B+A developed the Trauma Center Reimbursement Profile in 1992 to effectively communicate the realities of trauma center finance to hospital and trauma program managers as well as health care policymakers. The trauma patient payer mix is represented by the relative width of the columns; the yellow area represents costs recovered by reimbursement, the green area represents a surplus, and the red area represents a loss. This profile is still very popular with B+A clients as well as NFTC members, who use the B+A Chart software to generate profiles for their own programs.
